Jewish Chaplaincy Services

The Jewish Community Chaplain ensures no Jew is alone in time of need. Rabbi Mintz responds to the acute pastoral and spiritual needs of all Jews in Orange County who are ill, at end-of-life or experiencing life crises, including those in hospitals, long-term care facilities and other institutions. Jewish Chaplaincy Services is a project of the Chabad Center for Jewish Life in Newport Beach and Hoag Hospital.

Visitation

Chabad center visits the patients as requested by a patient, family or hospital staff. (24/7 during time sensitive matters). Upon request, additional visits to the home bound or to those in long-term care facilities. Click here to request a visit »

Prayer Books

Prayer books are available in the main chapel and in the pastoral care department.

Shabbat Kit

A Shabbat Kit delivered on Friday to Jewish patients include, candles, challah, grape juice, and other essentials. These kits help to provide peace and comfort at exceptionally difficult times. Click here to request a kit »

Loss

Chabad provides spiritual support upon the death of a loved one. We assist in making final arrangements (advance planning or at time of need), officiate at funerals, memorial services and unveilings. Chabad makes appropriate referrals for ongoing bereavement support.

Birth

Chabad provides assistance with Bris/Circumcision list of Mohels and baby naming ceremonies.

Kosher Food

The food and nutrition department offers a breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu of kosher foods which comply with Jewish dietary laws. Simply ask the representative from Nutrition Services.

Request a Prayer

Every Shabbat, during the Torah service, we say a special prayer (called a 'Misheberach', from its opening words) for those who have a serious illness and are in need of special healing.
