The Friendship Circle of Orange County
Together We Can Perform Miracles!
The Friendship Circle gives children who are physically or mentally challenged a full range of social experiences. Professional therapists train teenage volunteers to become effective and therapeutically skilled in developing friendships with these special children. Weekly visits to the children’s home result in a special bond between the volunteer and child. Another one of the many programs is Sunday Circle where the children’s skills are enhanced through Tae Kwon Do, specialized art, and expression through music. If you are a teen who has time for a weekly visit, or if you know of a family that could benefit from these programs, joining The Friendship Circle is easy.

Hospital & Nursing Home programs & visitations
Weekly and holiday visits to the sick, elderly and homebound, and mentally challenged people in the community. Email or call the Center for special requests.
The Center has been bringing the joy and warmth of the Holidays to the entire community by conducting High Holiday Services, Passover Seders, and Chanukah celebrations at many hospitals, nursing and assisted living facilities, homes for the mentally challenged and the homebound. These programs uplift and enable so many to celebrate the Holidays.
MAKING THE HOLIDAYS SO MUCH BRIGHTER
The Jewish Center visits Orangewood Children's Foster Home, and various community shelters and hospitals where we run Holiday programs consisting of entertainment and arts and crafts. Additionally, each child, from abused and neglected homes, will receive a beautiful gift brimming with warmth and love.
The Center has also taken the initiative of "adopting" many of these families. The goal of this project is to bring gifts, meals and smiles to thousands of needy children and families regardless of their race, color or ethnicity.
Summer Camp Scholarships
For many of our community’s children, summertime quickly becomes an endless cycle of unsupervised boredom, heat and monotony. The Center gets these children off the streets and into a fun, friendly and loving environment. Our summer camp gives them a chance to laugh and play, to make new friends. Our camp scholarships make their hardships that much easier to endure.
You can make a difference in the life of another.
Visit with the homebound, pick up groceries, drive an elderly patient to a doctor's appointment. Bring them your warmth and smile and make their day. Volunteer once a month or more. To get started please call the Center or email info@JewishNewport.com
Youth and Family Counseling
All counseling is available by appointment by calling The Center. We also provide financial aid and referrals to leading specialists as well as crisis management support groups.
Chabad Residential Treatment Center
Primary Focus: Mix of mental health and substance abuse services
Services Provided: Substance abuse treatment
Type of Care: Residential long-term treatment (more than 30 days)
Payment Assistance: Sliding fee scale (fee is based on income and other factors), Payment assistance available.
Life-Cycle events:
Shalom Baby. The Center delights in the birth of each baby in the greater Jewish community. We want to welcome each newborn with a complimentary Shalom Baby package filled with gifts and useful information on raising a Jewish baby in Orange County.
Baby Naming - Bris Circumcision ceremony
We will facilitate, arrange, assist and familiarize the family with the entire process to make it the experience and the joy it is meant to be.
Bar & Bat Mitzvah Celebrations
We help parents think through the myriad of details that require attention when planning a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We help make the occasion a memorable step forward for your son or daughter in living a meaningful Jewish life.
Ages 12 through 120 - We will create the Bar or Bat Mitzvah you desire and choose, from a simple one with minimal preparation to the whole elaborate affair.
Children with Special Needs You will be overjoyed with our approach and sensitivity to the specially geared program just for them.
Weddings
“Mazal Tov! Congratulations on your engagement. We hope your happiness will continue to grow and that you will succeed in laying the foundations for a warm, loving and nurturing home. Our Rabbi is available to officiate at your wedding. Should you have any queries; the Rabbi will be pleased to assist.
Funerals
King Solomon said, "There is a time for all under the heavens - a time to love, a time to journey, a time to plant, a time to reap, a time to rejoice and a time to mourn." The Rabbi and staff are always there especially in times of need. To offer comfort, guidance and bereavement support. assistance in preparation, officiating at the funeral, the Shiva service etc. and financial aid for any aspect of the challenging journey.
